Bremen plan to activate purchase clause for Arsenal shot-stopper Hein

Karl Hein, who spent last season on loan at Bremen, is expected to become a permanent fixture at the Bundesliga club over summer.

Werder Bremen are supposedly on the cusp of signing Karl Hein on a permanent deal this summer, according to Sky Germany.

The pay-TV channel's journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that the €3million option to buy from Arsenal has been activated.

As a result, the Estonian international will put pen to paper on a contract which is expected to last until the summer of 2030.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has a good chance of becoming Bremen's new first choice given Mio Backhaus seems to heading for the exit.

Backhaus has reportedly reached an agreement with SC Freiburg, however negotiations over a price with Bremen are ongoing.

Hein only featured twice for Bremen in the Bundesliga but impressed in both the 4-0 defeat to FC Bayern and 1-0 win over St. Pauli.
