‘Advanced talks’ for Manchester City man – Deal close to being done

Atletico Madrid are now in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Bernardo Silva when he leaves Manchester City this summer.

Journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports that the two sides are now ‘close to an agreement’ for the midfielder to move to Spain.

Advanced talks

The journalist reports that Atletico are now in advanced talks with the 31-year-old. And while no deal has been finalised yet, the two sides ae close to an agreement.

Bernardo Silva is set to be a free agent this summer after electing to leave Manchester City. Reports have subsequently linked him with moves to clubs across Europe.

Juventus have been keen for a while, while Sport Witness covered a report that stated he had held positive talks with Galatasaray about a move this summer.

Then Atletico Madrid came into the picture three days ago. A report in Spain explained that they had turned their attention to the Manchester City midfielder. That report also included surprise contact from Chelsea.

Griezmann replacement

It explain that Atletico see Silva as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann. And had opened talks about a potential move this summer as a result.

They were, reportedly, taking advantage of the fact that the Manchester City man wants to be closer to his family in Portugal after nine years in England. A move to Spain would certainly make that easier.

Now Sabuncuoğlu reports that talks are now at an advanced stage and both sides are close to an agreement. He makes no mention of the contract terms or deal in place at this moment in time.

Now, Sport Witness would point out that is yet to be reported in Spain. So, it is worth taking the news with a hefty dose of caution.

But Silva has been linked with a move to Türkiye this summer, and them potentially being out of the race would, of course, be right in Sabuncuoğlu’s wheelhouse.
