“Pleasure to have shard a dressing room with you” - David Raya reacts as 24-year-old Arsenal star confirms decision to leave club

Arsenal goalkeeper has reacted to Karl Hein's post after he announced his departure. The 24-year-old goalkeeper has permanently joined Werder Bremen after a loan spell.

Hein joined the Gunners' academy from Nomme United in 2018. He made just one senior appearance for them, which came in 2022. He has had multiple loan spells, including at Werder Bremen this season. He has now joined them permanently.

He shared a heartfelt post on Instagram after his exit from Arsenal. The Gunners' current first-choice goalkeeper, David Raya, commented on the post, writing:

"All the best Karlitos. Pleasure to have shared a dressing room with you. I wish you nothing but the best."

Hein, meanwhile, opened up about his experience of playing at Arsenal and wrote:

"It was a real privilege to be part of a club like @arsenal for such a long time. It is surreal to look back and think that I was given the opportunity to find a way from the academy to the first team and I will forever be thankful to this amazing football club."

"This club has helped me grow from a 16-year old kid to a goalkeeper and person who can achieve his dreams. Who would have ever thought that somehow I will find myself a REAL FAMILY in London who I love. I’ve made so many irreplaceable memories, friends and connections that will stay with me forever."

Hein has made just two appearances for Werder Bremen during his loan spell this season.

Ex-Arsenal star names David Raya the key player against PSG

The Gunners have already won the Premier League title this season, with one game remaining. They will also face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League on May 31.

Ahead of the clash, former Arsenal goalkeeper Graham Stack has highlighted Raya's importance, saying (h/t Metro):

"If Raya plays well, or if Raya continues his form, which he’s been in, he gives Arsenal every chance to go and win the Champions League, without a question. And I just think it’s the belief he instils throughout the team as well. I think they’re so assured and so confident when they’re behind him. What he brings to the team from that psychological point of view, he’s proven, and he’s been so consistent."

"You look behind you, you’ve got Raya in goal, you’re thinking to yourself, I’m really confident we can get a result today if he’s on form. Because PSG are going to create chances. You saw them against Bayern, when they’re at it, they’re free-flowing, they will create chances, doesn’t matter who they’re playing against," he added.

The north London side signed Raya from Brentford in 2023, and he has won the Premier League Golden Glove in all three seasons for them.
