Arsenal handed double boost in bid to sign world-class £87m star after contact made to complete …

It is no secret that Arsenal will look to strengthen their title-winning squad in the summer transfer window for another title at the Premier League crown in 2026/27.

The Gunners claimed their first Premier League title in 22 years on Tuesday without kicking a ball when Manchester City drew 1-1 away at Bournemouth.

And with Pep Guardiola announcing his departure from City at the end of this season - one year earlier than the end of his contract - Arsenal fans everywhere will be hoping the Gunners are moving into a new era of domination in English football.

Three Arsenal forwards could leave this summer

Leandro Trossard

Manager Mikel Arteta will not want to rest on his laurels and will be working hard behind the scenes over a World Cup summer to ensure his squad remains fresh and that new faces arrive to strengthen what he already has.

It is well known the Gunners are keen to change things up in the forward areas, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, while Kai Havertz could even depart the club, according to CBS Sports journalist James Benge.

That would leave Arsenal particularly light, but there are irons in the fire when it comes to new signings.

Bradley Barcola is a name that has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and Arsenal are interested in signing the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star.

Barcola is not always a starter under Luis Enrique at the Parc des Princes, with severe competition in forward areas with the likes of Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele to name just three.

Barcola described as an "extraordinary" player

RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo was forced to eat his words about the forward having previously called him a "little lamb". In an analytical piece about the player on the run to becoming a 2025 Champions League winner at PSG, Riolo said: "What Barcola is doing is extraordinary. He has transformed. He isn’t a lamb anymore, he’s playing like a killer on the wing. The pace, the choice of pass, the composure, he has completely forced me to eat my words."

Former PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma said in 2024: "He has everything to become a world-class player."

Sky Sports reported earlier this month that Arsenal have been monitoring his situation for months and that contact has been made over a potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

And Arsenal have been given two boosts in get a deal over the line.

Barcola has changed agents in recent weeks, suggesting he has tasked his representatives with finding him a move, while contract talks to remain at PSG have also been put on hold.

GIVEMESPORT senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs said: "The player did change agents relatively recently, which certainly suggests that he's either looking for a new deal or he's looking at options away from PSG, but PSG are really calm about the situation."

Contract talks have been put on hold until after the UEFA Champions League final - coincidentally against Arsenal next week - but the double boost could be just the green light Arsenal need to complete a deal.

How much PSG will demand to sell Barcola

Bradley Barcola

PSG would likely command a fee in the region of €100million (£87million) to sell the France international this summer and Arsenal would have to fight off interest from Liverpool too.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel: "Barcola is still not signing a new contract at Paris Saint-German as of now, and so I would say Barcola could be a serious option for Liverpool.

"There is genuine interest also from Arsenal. Arsenal also like Barcola and they are considering adding an important offensive player, we have to see whether it's going to be a winger, whether it's going to be a more kind of striker.

"Arsenal have to decide internally what they want to do, but Barcola is an option for Arsenal and Liverpool. The player decision is going to be crucial."
