Romano Confirms Arsenal Have "Genuine Interest" In 18 Cap International Winger

Arsenal hold a “genuine interest” in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners are in the market for a forward this summer, but Romano says Mikel Arteta’s side have yet to make a final decision on who to sign:

“There is genuine interest from Arsenal. Arsenal like Barcola. Arsenal are considering adding an important offensive player.”

“We have to see whether he’s going to be a winger or striker. The Gunners have to decide internally what they want to do.”

Barcola could be available

Unlike teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has also been linked with a move to the Emirates, Barcola could be sold by PSG.

The Ligue One champions are looking to strengthen their forward line, and they are said to be interested in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, along with Liverpool.

If the Ivorian does make the switch to the Parc des Princes, it would open the door for Barcola’s departure.

The 23-year-old has also been in negotiations over a new contract, but talks have stalled, so there are multiple reasons why he could be on the market over the next few weeks/months.

Arsenal would have competition for the player

It should be pointed out that Romano has said that Liverpool could make a move for Barcola too if they lose out on Diomande to PSG.

At the moment, the Reds appear to be favourites for the RB Leipzig winger’s signature, with The Athletic reporter David Ornstein claiming they are in a “strong position”.

Of course, if Diomande does seal a transfer to Anfield, it may harden PSG’s stance on keeping Barcola, so there are a lot of moving parts to take into consideration.

One thing is certain, though, Arsenal want a forward and the 18-cap France international is on their shortlist.
