With all the rumours circulating involving Thiago Silva and Chelsea, there has been a slight update on the defender’s coaching journey on Instagram.
Thiago Silva is officially a free agent after deciding not to renew his contract with FC Porto, sparking intense speculation over his next move.
Despite turning 42 later this year, the Brazilian legend is not short of options. Former club AC Milan has already offered him a one-year deal to extend his illustrious playing career in Italy.
However, a return to Stamford Bridge remains a highly tempting alternative. Reports indicate that Chelsea have a formal coaching proposal waiting for Silva the moment he decides to hang up his boots, with a role specifically eyed within the club’s youth academy.

Thiago Silva is taking his coaching license
Interestingly, Silva recently shared that he is currently midway through completing his UEFA coaching license in Scotland via his Instagram.
He now faces a major career crossroads: lace up his boots for one final season at San Siro, or return to London to begin his post-playing journey as a Chelsea coach.
It’s a decision that perhaps will lead to another season at AC Milan, for the nostalgia of it and due to the fact that he hasn’t actually completed his coaching course yet.

What does a UEFA A Coaching Licence get you?
A UEFA A Licence is not enough on its own to be the permanent head coach/manager at a top football club.
To manage a first team in the top tier of any major European league (like the Premier League, La Liga, or Serie A) or in UEFA competitions (like the Champions League), you must hold the UEFA Pro Licence—the fifth and highest qualification on the coaching pyramid.
However, there is a loophole: if a coach only holds a UEFA A Licence, they can legally take charge of a top-flight club only if they have already enrolled in and actively started the 18-month UEFA Pro Licence course.
An A Licence is, however, sufficient to work as an assistant manager or a first-team coach under a manager who holds the Pro Licence.
