Former Chelsea forward set for£37m move two years after £1.7m exit

Chelsea may live to regret yet another transfer, as a former Stamford Bridge fringe man is set to secure a £37 million move.

While Chelsea‘s scouting department has unearthed some gems, their history of letting elite talent slip through their fingers is legendary.

The most painful examples remain Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, both of whom were deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge before evolving into superstars elsewhere.

Similarly, Jamal Musiala spent most of his childhood development in Cobham’s academy before heading to Bayern Munich. Also, Romelu Lukaku was also let go far too early, forcing Chelsea to spend a record-breaking fee to bring him back years later.

And there could be another on the cards for the Blues.

Has Cole Palmer been wronged? Or is it just deserved for his poor form?🤔

Diego Moreira set to join Borussia Dortmund

According to MohamedTERParis, Rennes has targeted Diego Moreira.

The latter is highly sought after, particularly by Dortmund, which is his preference. The player reportedly has an agreement with the German club. Strasbourg wants 38 + 5!

Moreira has scored five goals and laid on nine assists in all competitions so far this season, as well as showing his versatility to play in the wing-back position.

Are you taking Thiago Silva back at Chelsea? If so, in what capacity?🤔

Diego Moreira never got a chance at Chelsea

Diego Moreira’s brief time at Chelsea was a whirlwind that showed the club’s rapid-fire youth recruitment strategy. Signed on a free transfer from Benfica in the summer of 2023, the winger was immediately thrust into the first-team setup.

He made his senior competitive debut against AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup but struggled to break into the Premier League matchday squads. Desperate for top-flight minutes, he was loaned to Lyon just two months later.

After that stint was cut short in January 2024, Moreira returned to London to feature for the Under-21s. Recognising his development lay elsewhere, Chelsea ultimately sold him to sister-club Strasbourg for £1.7 million, where he has since proved his worth.

And interesting enough, Chelsea have a buy-back clause on Moreira.
