Ollie Watkins scores his second of the game for Aston Villa against Manchester City
Pep Guardiola closed out ten years in English football with Manchester City with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa. Antoine Semenyo gave the Blues the lead but a second-half double from Ollie Watkins consigned them to defeat.
Villa had little to play for and have celebrated hard after their Europa League triumph on Wednesday night, while for City their title race ended at Bournemouth earlier in the week. The fact that there were nine changes from that 1-1 draw on the south coast pointed to the fact that Guardiola was not fussed with the performance or result.
It was a City performance to forget on a day that Blues were more interested in sending off Guardiola, Bernardo Silva and John Stones in the best possible way. The two players got guards of honour from both teams as they were substituted in the second half.

Here are the player ratings from the _Manchester Evening News_.
**Trafford:** Didn't really have anything to do other than pick the ball out of the net twice. No major errors and one decent save. **6**
**Lewis:** Looked bright going forward but also missed some tackles defensively when Villa did go on the attack. **6**
**Stones:** Looked off the pace and was culpable for both goals conceded. Thomas Tuchel may be the only one who cares though. **5**
**Dias:** A first appearance in two months and he looked rusty as well against the pace in the Villa attack. **5**
**Ake:** Posed a big threat from set-pieces but got caught up in City's malaise in the second half. **6**
**Silva:** A few bursts into the final third, plenty of control in the first half but he struggled to hold himself together before the early substitution. **7**
**Gonzalez:** Having not even made the squad in recent weeks, he disappointed again with no real authority or control on the midfield. **4**
**Foden:** Caught between the Rodri role of pinging balls out to the wings and trying to crash into the box himself, he couldn't grab the game. **5**
**Reijnders:** Some good deliveries from set-pieces, including for the goal, although he still takes too many shots. **6**
**Savinho:** Plenty of running and tricks, still a problem with the final product but that didn't all seem to be his fault. **6**
**Semenyo:** Took his goal very well and kept running at the Villa defence before an early substitution. **7**
**Kovacic (for Silva, 57)** Didn't really do much to change the game when he came on. **5**
**Cherki (for Semenyo, 57)** Same as Kovacic. **5**
**Gvardiol for Stones, 77)** Showed some intent. **6**
**Ait-Nouri (for Ake, 77)** A few nice runs up the left wing. **6**
**Doku (for Reijnders, 77)** Tried to get a goal back. **6**
**Not used:** Bettinelli, Nunes, Alleyne, Marmoush
