Regis Le Bris disagrees with the data approach
BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella shared some comments from Regis Le Bris after Sunderland’s win over Chelsea, in which he stated that data isn’t everything.
He said data can’t analyse the “human element” and says that was the key ingredient for Sunderland’s over-achievement.
It is pretty clear that is what is lacking at Chelsea. The most important part is listening to the people who know what they’re talking about, starting with the manager.

Chelsea fans are of the same belief
Chelsea fans have completely lost faith in the board’sapproach, actively protesting against a model that treats the club like a software project.
Supporter groups argue that football cannot be calculated purely on spreadsheets and mathematical player amortisation. Instead, the Stamford Bridge faithful are demanding a major cultural shift.
They want to see genuine sporting control handed back to the dugout, empowering newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso to make vital footballing decisions.
And if the early signs are anything to go by, it seems as if the Chelsea owners are waking up to it and want to give Alonso more power.
