Romano Names The Chelsea And Newcastle Stars That Maresca And Man City Have Discussed As Possible Targets

Man City are interested in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano reiterated that Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson remains a top target for the Cityzens, but Enzo Maresca has been discussing potential alternatives with the club’s recruitment team:

“The interest from Man City in Elliot Anderson has not changed; Pep Guardiola leaving is not going to change anything. Man City and Enzo Maresca already agreed on considering Elliot Anderson as a top target. Then they have some other names in the list in case this deal doesn’t happen.”

“Let’s see what happens with Rodri as well. Some players like Enzo Fernandez and more have been mentioned internally at Man City, also Sandro Tonali, so they have some names internally under consideration, but for sure, this is the situation as of today for Manchester City.”

Fernandez is a fan of Maresca’s

The Independent reported last week that the Argentinian international could play his last game for Chelsea this weekend, with City and Real Madrid among his suitors.

Fernandez was not happy about Maresca’s departure from Stamford Bridge in January, and he has been described as a “loyalist” of the Italian’s in Chelsea squad. That could potentially open the door for a move to the Etihad over the coming days.

All 3 Man City targets could cost £100m

Romano has emphasised that Anderson will cost nine figures after Forest secured Premier League safety, but Fernandez and Tonali are unlikely to be any cheaper.

Chelsea paid £107m for Fernandez, and they would be reluctant to offload him to a Premier League rival. Newcastle, meanwhile, are keen on keeping hold of Tonali, and he may end up costing around £100m too.
