Barcelona confirm post-season plan with recovery focus ahead of July return

FC Barcelona played their last game of the 2025-26 season on Saturday night, [which ended in a 3-1 defeat for them](https://semprebarca.com/lewandowski-8-0-gavi-7-5-valencia-3-1-fc-barcelona-player-ratings/), at the hands of Valencia at Mestalla. With this game played, the Catalans do not have any other official commitments left to play out this season.

As a result, [SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/barca-confirma-punto-final-temporada-130591918) notes that the Blaugrana side officially announced that there would be no more group training sessions, but individual maintenance and recovery sessions would continue to take place. The team is now set to return to training in July.

This return would be conditioned to a significant extent by the World Cup 2026. The players who would not be participating in this tournament would return in mid-July to undergo their medical tests and restart training under Flick.

Meanwhile, players who would be participating in the World Cup, which is set to end on July 19th, would return later, and would get up to three weeks off for rest after that. In fact, Flick can also give them an additional week off.

After that, Barcelona would have a rather unusual preseason, during which there would be no tour, as has happened in recent years, but a training camp in England, at Newcastle United’s St. James Park facilities.

There can also be one or two friendlies in the country, before the Blaugranes fly directly to Nairobi, while another trip to Morocco is also not yet ruled out.
