Chelsea have identified Brentford striker Igor Thiago as a target to strengthen their attack this summer.
Xabi Alonso is understood to have been hugely impressed by Thiago's performances in the Premier League this season and is eyeing a deal to bring the forward across West London.
Thiago finished as runner-up for the Premier League Golden Boot in 2025/26, after scoring 22 league goals for Brentford. It was a remarkable return from the 24-year-old, whose debut season with the Bees had been decimated by an ACL injury.
His performances earned Thiago a Brazil debut in March and he has been included in the South American nation's 2026 World Cup squad.
FussballDaten report that Chelsea and Alonso have made the signing of a centre-forward their top priority for the summer.
Joao Pedro shone during his first campaign at Stamford Bridge, but fellow recruit Liam Delap struggled to make an impact. Delap is expected to depart in the summer transfer window.
Thiago is seen as a Premier League ready option to upgrade Chelsea's options. However, Brentford will demand a huge fee for the forward, who is contracted at the Gtech Community Stadium until 2031.
Thiago signed a new long-term deal in February and thanked Brentford for their support during his long recovery last season.
Chelsea are plotting a major overhaul under incoming head coach Alonso, who will officially begin his reign in July.
The Spaniard will be tasked with rebuilding a Chelsea side that limped to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League. Defeat at Sunderland on the final day cost Chelsea a place in European competition for next season.
