Chelsea put in another terrible defensive display on Sunday in their 2-1 loss to Sunderland.
The first goal the Blues conceded came from one long ball over the top before Malo Gusto converted into his own net.

Wesley Fofana was also sent off, resulting in interim manager Calum McFarlane sending a message to Xabi Alonso: he has to address the team’s lack of discipline next season.
Chelsea should sell Wesley Fofana instead of Trevoh Chalobah
Fofana’s red card at the Stadium of Light was his second of the campaign. Chelsea have often tried to get rid of Trevoh Chalobah, but it is now quite clear that Fofana is the first defender who should be heading for the exit door this summer.
Not only has he shown a lot of ill-discipline this term, but his defending has also been subpar.
Chelsea paid Leicester City £70m for Fofana back in 2022, but the 25-year-old has not looked anything like a £70m defender.

Fofana has had a lot of injuries since joining the Blues; however, his fitness record improved this season. Unfortunately, he was rarely able to make a positive impact.
In contrast, despite Chalobah being the centre-back Chelsea always seem willing to offload, the England international has been very consistent.
Chalobah has even managed to score a few goals for Chelsea in the Premier League. One fan on TalkingPoints thinks Chalobah is a better defender than Fofana, and after Sunday’s game against Sunderland, it is hard to disagree.

Wesley Fofana should also be sold before Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile
Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile have received a lot of criticism, but at this stage, you would have to take either defender over Fofana.
Adarabioyo at least brings leadership qualities to the dressing room, while Badiashile has quite a unique profile. He is a big and strong centre-half, but the former AS Monaco man is also a left-footed player who can sometimes make pretty good passes.
Fofana just looks like way more of a liability at this moment in time.
