Arsenal star Declan Rice's reaction to his former club West Ham getting relegated on the final day of the season has gone viral on Instagram. The midfielder was filmed after the Gunners' 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke helped Mikel Arteta and co. secure the win at Selhurst Park. Arsenal knew they were heading into the final day of the season in celebratory mode, thanks to Manchester City slipping up against Bournemouth last Tuesday.
However, the same cannot be said for West Ham, who were fighting pretty much against all odds to avoid relegation on the final day. The Hammers beat Leeds 3-0 but still went down after Arsenal's rivals Tottenham secured a win over Everton.
Understandably, Rice was disappointed when the scores were announced at Selhurst Park after the game. In a video believed to be shot by someone in the crowd, Rice can be seen walking away by shaking his head after it was confirmed that West Ham were going down to the Championship.
At the time of writing, the video has crossed over 19 million views on Instagram. Fans have expressed their awe in the comments, highlighting how much Rice loves West Ham even now.
After securing the Premier League title, Rice and his teammates will now gear up for the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on May 30 in Budapest.
Bruno Fernandes surpasses Arsenal star Declan Rice in race for PFA Player of the Year award
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been crowned the FWA Footballer of the Year and the Premier League's player of the season recently. The Portugal midfielder was competing with Rice for both the awards and came out on top despite Manchester United not winning a trophy.
Fernandes has been honored with the award, thanks to his incredible individual record this season. He has set a Premier League record for most assists in a single Premier League season after contributing to 21 goals for his teammates.
The PFA Player of the Year award is still up for grabs this season. The winner will be named in August after being voted by the players themselves. At this moment in time, Fernandes is believed to be ahead of Rice in the running for that award as well.
Notably, Fernandes is now entering the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen if Manchester United offer him a new deal after the World Cup next month.
