Arsenal have been sending scouts to keep an eye on Augsburg centre-back Noahkai Banks, according to reports in the German media.

Sky Sports Germany claim that “representatives” from the Gunners have been seen in the stands watching the teenager this season.

Banks has established himself as a regular starter in the Bundesliga, having made 20 league starts over the course of the 2025/26 campaign.

The American is still only 19 years of age, and Sky report that Mikel Arteta’s side think the player has an “exciting” future ahead of him.

What do fans need to know about Banks?

The defender was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but he grew up in Germany, coming through TSV Dietmannsried’s youth system before moving to Augsburg in 2015.

Banks made his first senior appearance for the B team in a 1-0 defeat to Schweinfurt 05 in March 2024, and he was then given his debut for the first team less than a year later.

The youngster was thrown in at the deep end, having to replace the injured Maximilian Bauer just half an hour into a Bundesliga game against Stuttgart in January 2025.

Although Banks is ostensibly a centre-half, he does play as part of a back three, so he possesses mobility, which means there would be scope for playing him as a fullback in a back four too.

Arsenal regard him as a long-term target

Sky claim that the Gunners see Banks as possessing a lot of potential, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are ready to make a formal offer.

With that being the case, there is a chance that another team could swoop in and take him now. Other clubs are circling the American, so we shall see how this transfer story plays out.
