Prospective Man City boss Enzo Maresca is trying to tempt Marc Cucurella into leaving Chelsea for the Etihad, according to reports.
Journalist Simon Phillips, who had the inside scoop on the Blues appointing Xabi Alonso, claims Maresca has been in the ear of his former player.

Writing on his Substack, Phillips said that the Italian “been speaking to” Cucurella “and warming him up for a potential move this summer”.
It is believed that Spanish international has been pressing to leave Stamford Bridge since Maresca’s sacking in January and it appears Chelsea will approve his departure.
Cucurella’s contract situation will help City
One of the reasons that his club are willing to let him leave is due to the fact that the 27-year-old has just two years left on his contract.
The Blues were initially hopeful of tying Cucurella down to an extension, but his unhappiness and the interest from City seems to have swayed them into believing a sale now is the best thing to do.

Man City wanted to sign the left back 4 years ago
Chelsea beat the Cityzens to Cucurella’s signature in the summer of 2022. Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly installed himself as interim sporting director that year, and he later admitted that he only wanted to win the race for the player’s signature as City were pursuing him. They eventually paid Brighton £62m, which is not a figure that Pep Guardiola’s side were willing to match.
It seems the fullback could now end up at the Etihad, four years after City’s initial pursuit. However, it should be pointed out that Barcelona are also reportedly keen on the defender, so there are no guarantees at this stage that this deal will happen.
