Despite a 3-0 win over Leeds United on the final day, West Ham United will be playing Championship football next season following their relegation from the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side held up their end of the bargain by winning their final fixture with ease, but Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 victory against Everton consigned the Hammers to an 18th place finish and a first season in the second-tier since 2012.

They will likely head into the 2026-27 Championship season as favourites for the title, however their odds of securing an immediate return to the English top flight may be greatly impacted by any sales they finalise during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Hammers will lose out on Premier League TV revenue as a result of their relegation and a fire-sale is expected to take place this summer. That is according to talkSPORT" href="https://talksport.com/football/4282423/west-ham-relegated-fire-sale-debts-transfers-david-sullivan/" target="_blank">talkSPORT, who claim that West Ham will be required to sell players before the end of Deadline Day, with the club having racked up debts in excess of £100 million.

It’s reported that “vultures are already circling” around Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes, while Jarrod Bowen may also be tempted to depart, despite insisting that he wants to guide the club back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

In addition, Player of the Year winner Konstantinos Mavropanos may reportedly depart, with left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf heavily linked with a summer exit too.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through which clubs may benefit from West Ham’s imminent player exodus.

Arsenal - Mateus Fernandes

Manchester United are also interested in Mateus Fernandes, but Arsenal are set to challenge Michael Carrick’s side for his signature and a move to the Emirates Stadium could therefore be on the cards for the Portugal midfielder.

He arrived at the London Stadium following Southampton’s relegation last season and he has undoubtedly been one of the breakout stars of the Premier League season, with multiple elite clubs chasing a deal this summer.

Fernandes has emerged as a top midfield target for Arsenal and West Ham’s relegation could help Mikel Arteta’s side finalise a transfer for a slightly reduced fee.

Borussia Dortmund - Konstantinos Mavropanos

Konstantinos Mavropanos has spent the past three seasons at West Ham, however his time at the club is likely to end this summer, with the Greece international wanted by a number of clubs in Europe.

He was one of very few positives for West Ham in 2025-26 and a return to the Bundesliga is believed to be a possibility when the summer window opens, with Borussia Dortmund among the clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

The German giants have managed to extend Nico Schlotterbeck’s contract, but they remain in the market for a new centre-back and Mavropanos is understood to be on their radar.

Everton - Crysencio Summerville

Crysencio Summerville is set to be one of the most in-demand wingers this summer following West Ham’s relegation and a number of clubs in the Premier League are believed to be monitoring developments closely.

The likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle United have all been linked, but David Moyes’ side could be best placed to sign him, with Jack Grealish currently set to return to Manchester City following his loan move and Tyrique George also departing after the end of his temporary spell from Chelsea.

With seven goals and five assists in 34 games across all competitions, Summerville enjoyed a fairly productive campaign and a move away from east London is expected to take place this summer.

Liverpool - Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen is being watched by Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd, if reports are to be believed, and a move to Anfield may be the most likely next step if he leaves West Ham.

The Reds are in the market for a new right winger to replace Mohamed Salah and if a deal for Yan Diomande continues to stall, they could turn their attention to Bowen, who has been on their radar for several years.

The England forward, who missed out on World Cup selection, registered 20 goal contributions in 38 Premier League games this season and although he is now 29 years old, he could be a smart pick-up by Liverpool.

Man Utd - El Hadji Malick Diouf

Injury-prone Luke Shaw started all 38 Premier League matches for Man Utd this season, but the club are keen to sign an alternative left-back in order to reduce his workload next year ahead of a first Champions League campaign since 2023-24.

Patrick Dorgu is now regarded as a more advanced option by those at Old Trafford and signing a new left-back to compete with Shaw is one of Man Utd’s priorities for the summer window.

Several players have been linked with a switch to the Red Devils as a result, although El Hadji Malick Diouf is one of the club’s primary targets for the role and a deal could feasibly be finalised shortly following West Ham’s relegation.
