After an up-and-down season, Emanuel Emegha will be heading to Chelsea with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove.
Chelsea’s agreement to sign Emmanuel Emegha ahead of the 2026/27 season has raised eyebrows following his incredibly frustrating and inconsistent campaign at Strasbourg.
Despite being named club captain, the 23-year-old forward has struggled immensely with form and persistent injuries. His struggles in front of goal even saw him fiercely booed by his own supporters following Strasbourg’s recent European Conference League semi-final exit.
He was also involved in off-the-pitch controversies this year, including a club suspension after he admitted in an interview that he didn’t even know where Strasbourg was when he joined.
And Emegha rustled a few feathers at Stamford Bridge when he described Chelsea as the ‘next step’ ahead of joining this summer.

Emanuel Emegha misses out on the Netherlands World Cup squad
According to NOS, incoming Chelsea striker Emanuel Emegha will not be selected for the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
Ronald Koeman has decided to leave the forward out of his squad due to concerns over his match fitness.
And to make matters worse, it’s been stated that even Chelsea are undecided on Emegha under Xabi Alonso, despite him joining the club this summer.

The warning signs are there with Emanuel Emegha
Emmanuel Emegha must urgently sort his attitude out if he wants any future under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea. The forward’s final months at Strasbourg, marred by a club suspension for disrespectful comments and a bizarre post-match spat where he demanded applause after a European semi-final exit, highlight a severe lack of maturity.
Sadly, Stamford Bridge has become a graveyard for big egos and fractured dressing rooms.
If Emegha expects to make it in the Premier League, he needs to ditch the arrogance, embrace humility, and prove he can be a disciplined team player, rather than another costly, disruptive headache.
