Chelsea told they will have to pay Moises Caicedo fee to sign midfield target this summer

Moises Caicedo is one of the most expensive midfielders in the world after Chelsea paid £115m for his signature in 2023.

Despite having the likes of Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, another £100m midfielder, it looks like the Blues could strengthen in the middle of the park this summer.

The potential departure of Fernandez is possibly one reason why as he continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City are said to be keen on Fernandez, who could reunite with Enzo Maresca at the Etihad.

Nottingham Forest using Moises Caicedo price tag as benchmark for Elliot Anderson

One midfielder whom Chelsea are thought to be interested in is Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

It has been claimed that Chelsea have already held talks with Anderson’s representatives, but the 23-year-old will not come cheap.

According to The Telegraph, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is using the £115m fee Chelsea paid to sign Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion as a benchmark for Anderson’s price.

Whether Chelsea will be able to afford that after missing out on Champions League football remains to be seen, but he is a name worth targeting this summer.

Anderson has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, earning a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup as a result.

Moises Caicedo’s and Elliot Anderson’s 2025/26 stats compared

Since Forest believe Anderson is worth as much as Caicedo, it would not be a bad idea to compare the two midfielders. This season, their stats have actually been quite similar.

For example, they have scored almost the same number of goals in the Premier League. Their tackles per game averages are also very similar.

Elliot Anderson 38 4 4 1.4 62.7 2.7 1.1

On the ball, Anderson probably does a bit more than Caicedo, and you can see that from his averages for key passes and passes in general.

If Chelsea do go on to sign Anderson, the England international and Caicedo could form a very effective partnership in the middle.
