A fierce La Liga battle between Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso ended with a nostalgic moment that will instantly warm the hearts of the Chelsea faithful.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso formed one of the most reliable partnerships in Chelsea’s modern era during a highly successful six-year overlap at Stamford Bridge.
Arriving at different times, they truly flourished under Antonio Conte in his 2016/17 Premier League title-winning side, but that was just the start.
Together, the Spanish duo went on to conquer Europe, lifting the 2019 Europa League under Maurizio Sarri before reaching the pinnacle by winning the 2021 Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
By the time they departed, they left behind a legacy of professionalism and a trophy cabinet complete with pretty much every major honor available.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso face off against eachother
Marcos Alonso and Casar Azpilicueta locked horns in a La Liga showdown as Celta Vigo hosted Sevilla.
Both former Chelsea icons featured prominently, playing the full 90 minutes for their respective sides. But ultimately, it was Alonso who claimed the bragging rights on the pitch, with Celta Vigo securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory courtesy of a second-half strike from Ilaix Moriba.
Despite the fierce competitive battle during the match, the deep bond between the two legendary defenders remained untouched, culminating in their heartwarming post-match embrace.
Sevilla’s official X account shared the image of the pair, who laughed, hugged and smiled.

Chelsea are really lacking a Cesar Azpilicueta
Chelsea desperately misses the leadership, iron-clad mentality, and tactical discipline that Cesar Azpilicueta consistently brought to Stamford Bridge.
The current squad boasts immense raw talent but remains dangerously naive and emotionally fragile during high-pressure moments, and it needs to stop.
Azpilicueta was an expert at game management, a vocal presence who could steady the ship, organise a backline, and demand accountability across the entire pitch.
