FC Barcelona are fully entrenched in their pursuit of a new centre-forward heading into the summer in order to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Joao Pedro of Chelsea has emerged as a key target, but despite facing difficulties, the Catalans remain intent on roping in Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid.
Moreover, the Argentine forward himself appears keen on making the switch, having informed the Rojiblancos of his intention to leave.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have established a maximum limit of €100 million for Alvarez.
The Blaugrana are still waiting for the Argentine to take a further step and increase pressure on Atletico. Should he inform the club that Barcelona are the only team he wishes to join, that situation would force the Colchoneros to enter negotiations.
Under such circumstances, Barcelona would attempt to reduce the cost of the operation by including Ferran Torres in the deal, with the player having only one year remaining on his contract.
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether Ferran would be willing to leave.

Moreover, If Atletico are unwilling to accept the Spanish forward as part of the arrangement, it would then become necessary to determine whether their demands aligned with Barcelona’s plans and whether the club would be prepared to make such a sacrifice.
Talks with Joao Pedro to proceed
For now, until such developments occur, Barcelona intend to continue progressing discussions over Joao Pedro, with Deco, Bojan Krkic, and Joao Amaral flying to London this week.
As far as the Catalans are concerned, as things stand, all options remain open.
