Xabi Alonso is set to ring the changes at Chelsea when he officially begins work as their new manager in July.
Chelsea have had an extremely disappointing 2025/26 campaign, and a squad overhaul now looks possible.
Under Calum McFarlane, the Blues finished 10th in the Premier League table. They also lost in the FA Cup final, being beaten by Manchester City.
If Chelsea have to sell this summer, which ONE are you sacrificing?🤔

Xabi Alonso could offload Malo Gusto
One player Alonso could look to get rid of this summer is Malo Gusto. According to Sport, Alonso and Chelsea will consider selling the defender if a convincing offer arrives.
The same report claims that Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho could also depart despite only joining the club last year.
Delap and Garnacho have really disappointed, scoring just two goals combined in the Premier League. Considering that, Alonso offloading Delap and Garnacho may be necessary if Chelsea want to progress.

There are a lot of average players in the Blues’ squad who contributed very little to the team this season, so a revamp may very well be necessary.
Whether Gusto should be a casualty, though, is very much up for debate.
Malo Gusto’s stats in 2025/26 campaign
Gusto played nearly all of Chelsea’s games this season. He made 49 appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists across those matches.
The right-back only picked up three yellow cards, which is not bad for a defender. However, he was one of many Chelsea players to receive a red card.
McFarlane has already warned Alonso that he will have to solve Chelsea’s discipline issue next season.
If Gusto does leave Stamford Bridge in the upcoming transfer window, Alonso could have a ready-made replacement in Josh Acheampong. Acheampong can play at centre-back and right-back, making him one option to replace Gusto.
The Frenchman is not the first player Chelsea should be selling. He has done a lot more than some of his teammates, but few Chelsea players look indispensable right now.
