Plan B for£39m star as Chelsea receive multiple enquiries for Blues‘machine’

If Chelsea are to have a successful transfer window, they need to raise funds. Having missed out on Europe, the best way to do that will be by selling some unwanted players, like Axel Disasi.

The Blues’ defeat to Sunderland on Sunday not only meant the Europa League was out of Chelsea’s reach, but the Conference League too. A dismal result for the Blues, which summed up their entire campaign.

Xabi Alonso now arrives at Stamford Bridge without the lure of European competition. It means players will want to leave, and the Spaniard will be tasked with replacing them, without a huge amount to spend.

A lack of European football will have placed a tighter hold on the club’s coffers. The club will have to cash in on a handful of key players with plenty linked away, like Joao Pedro and midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

But offloading a few unwanted players would certainly help. Without Europe, Chelsea do not need the size of the squad they currently have, and the likes of Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho could go.

Multiple enquiries made for West Ham loanee Axel Disasi

Bought for £39m from Monaco in 2023, Disasi was one of two signings Mauricio Pochettino claims he actually made. He had a solid first season, but Enzo Maresca’s arrival ended Disasi’s first-team chances.

A loan to Villa followed, before returning to be part of Chelsea’s bomb squad. In January, he joined West Ham, and then came the start of a mini-revival. Disasi starred for West Ham in their fight against the drop.

But on Sunday, West Ham were relegated. Plan A, joining West Ham permanently, is out of the window. Foot Mercato says multiple enquiries have now been made for the defender. Fulham and Villa are linked.

It appears that Disasi will still be one of Chelsea’s casualties this summer, but not to the London Stadium. With West Ham now unlikely to sign him, more than one club have already stated their interest in Disasi.

Is there any chance Disasi could be reintegrated at Chelsea?

Chelsea have 10 centre-backs, with Disasi and Aaron Anselmino returning. Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Jorrel Hato, Josh Acheampong, Mamadou Sarr and Levi Colwill, too.

Is there a way back for Axel Disasi at Chelsea?

Or do the Blues just need to cut their losses? 👀

Clearly, that is too big a number. Anselmino could go on loan again, while Badiashile, Fofana, Tosin and Chalobah have all been linked with an exit. Even Real Madrid and Barcelona are considering Colwill.

So, for Disasi to come back in, a whole heap of defenders would have to leave. There is certainly a chance, especially as West Ham’s Malick Diouf described Chelsea as “crazy” for not using “machine” Disasi.

Glen Johnson thinks there is a scenario where Alonso takes a look at Disasi and starts using him again. Under a new manager, Disasi could be tempted by that, but clubs are calling ahead of the summer.
