With his appearance against Valencia, FC Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has effectively played what could be his last match for the club, at least for the duration of his initial loan spell in Catalonia.
For now, the English forward’s future remains uncertain, although his stance is quite clear. He has enjoyed a positive spell in Spain, with 14 goals and 12 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, and is keen to continue at the Catalan club.
Hansi Flick is also satisfied with his performances, but Barcelona have yet to take a final decision on whether to activate the €30 million purchase clause from Manchester United, negotiate another loan, or move on from the player.
In this context, Mundo Deportivo reports that Rashford used social media to send a clear message about his intentions. The forward shared a photo from the last league match against Valencia at Mestalla and a video of his time at the club, accompanied by the message: “Always a pleasure. Season 25/26. Hungry for more, FC Barcelona,” along with two blaugrana hearts.
His performances throughout the season have left a positive impression on Flick, who would be happy to keep him in the squad, although the final decision will also depend on Barcelona’s financial situation and squad planning for next season.
It is also understood that Rashford is willing to accept a wage reduction in order to make a permanent stay more feasible.
For now, Rashford turns his attention to international duty with England national football team as he prepares for the upcoming World Cup. After the tournament, his situation is expected to be reviewed again, with both sides still open to the possibility of continuing their partnership in Barcelona.
