Rumours linking Sandro Tonali to the Gunners are wide of the mark.
An injury update on Noni Madueke has emerged ahead of the Champions League final.
As Arsenal bask in the glory of their Premier League triumph and prepare for the Champions League final on Saturday, sporting director Andrea Berta is making plans for next season.
The Gunners lifted the iconic trophy on Sunday afternoon after beating Crystal Palace in their final domestic match of the campaign. Mikel Arteta’s men now have the opportunity to secure a historic double when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest this weekend.
The North London club aren’t prepared to rest on their laurels, and want to create a dynasty. Berta is already looking at ways in which he can bolster Arteta’s squad, as he looks to ensure Arsenal sustain their success at the top.
With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Julian Alvarez, Sandro Tonali and Noni Madueke.
Julian Alvarez makes desire to leave Atletico Madrid clear
Arsenal will be in the market for a marquee attacker this summer, and it’s looking increasingly likely it’ll be Julian Alvarez. The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Argentine in recent months, and the most recent development is promising on this front.
According to Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, Alvarez’s camp have reiterated to Atletico Madrid the striker’s desire to leave this summer. Despite reported new contract offers, the 26-year-old is eager to part company with the Spanish giants.
The Gunners and PSG are said to be the primary suitors for Alvarez’s signature, with it supposedly set to be a straight shootout between the two clubs. It may ultimately boil down to who can offer the player a more lucrative package.
Sandro Tonali to Arsenal links downplayed
Another player said to be on Arsenal’s radar is Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Italian’s desire to exit St James’ Park this summer has been well documented, and the Gunners have been the club most regularly linked to him.
These reports resurfaced on Monday, although a reputable journalist has now claimed that the suggestions that a deal is accelerating are wide of the mark. Lee Ryder has revealed that both Arsenal and Newcastle have downplayed this gossip, although the Magpies are understood to be willing to sell.

However, Ryder suggests that a midfielder isn’t Arsenal’s priority this summer, and it is generally accepted that the focus will be on bolstering the attack.
Noni Madueke a doubt for Champions League final
Arsenal have a relatively fit squad heading into the Champions League final. Mikel Merino made his return at Selhurst Park, while David Raya, William Saliba, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard were all entirely rested.
That said, Arteta does have a fresh injury concern to deal with. Noni Madueke is a doubt for the final after being forced off in the second half against Palace.
While the right-winger may not be the first name on the teamsheet, his availability provides Arsenal with a safety net in case Bukayo Saka is tiring or sustains his own injury. Arteta will hope Madueke recovers in time to be involved.
