Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly leading the push to try and sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers this summer. The Gunners have just been crowned Premier League champions and could complete a historic double with a win in the Champions League final against PSG.

However, it's clear they're not sitting back and wasting any time ahead of the summer transfer window.

TalkSPORT claims Arteta is the man behind Arsenal's push to sign the England international, who played a starring role in Villa's Europa League triumph.

It's claimed Villa have slapped an £80m asking price on Rogers head this summer, though there's interest from several clubs across England and a bidding war could drive that price up towards the £100m mark.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on signing Rogers, with Reds sporting director Jason Wilcox a fan of Rogers from their time at Manchester City.

Unai Emery's side see Rogers as a key figure for their project moving forward, but recent reports claim Rogers could leave the club this summer.

He is reportedly hoping Aston Villa will allow him to depart this summer and according to The Sun, Rogers' six-year deal signed in November hasn't discouraged potential suitors.

Speculation has only intensified around his desire to compete for major honours at the highest level, and he's expected to play a key role for Thomas Tuchel at the World Cup this summer.

The report suggests Villa's hierarchy have an 'understanding' that the summer transfer window could present the ideal opportunity for the ex-Manchester City youngster to move on.

However, Emery has made it clear just how much he values Rogers. Back in December, he said: "He's a fantastic guy.

"He loves football - his commitment with the club is fantastic, his attitude every day. He's a leader in the dressing room because he's always positive, he has energy, and then he has skills, of course.

"His versatility is very important and to be positive playing 10 numbers inside, 10 numbers outside, even like a winger, is very, very important for us.

"Through the mentality he's showing, he can get his best and adding numbers now - goals, assists."
