The summer window is approaching, and Chelsea are expected to be very busy following Xabi Alonso’s appointment. Lewis Hall is a big fan of Chelsea’s most recent transfer target.
Alonso is expected to bring in a few more experienced players this summer to complement the youth that Chelsea currently boasts. A new goalkeeper is likely to be a key priority for Chelsea in the window.

Then, sorting out Chelsea’s wealth of options at centre-back as well as signing a first-choice replacement to go alongside Levi Colwill. A new left-sided winger is also a target, as is competition for Joao Pedro.
But Chelsea might also sign a new midfielder this summer. One that can free up Enzo Fernandez, or even replace the World Cup winner, should he end up leaving Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline.
Lewis Hall is a massive fan of Chelsea target Bruno Guimaraes
Brazil star Bruno Guimaraes has emerged as a target for the Blues, going into the summer window. The Newcastle United midfielder is widely renowned as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Guimaraes has been linked with Chelsea in the past, and it is no surprise. The 28-year-old has had a hand in 63 goals in 195 games for the Toon despite often playing as a deep-lying playmaker under Eddie Howe.

Speaking to TNT Brasil earlier this season, former Chelsea left-back Hall said he loves playing alongside Guimaraes. He reckons Guimaraes is capable of magic, and others aren’t capable of doing what he does.
“He’s such a magical player. He does so many things in the game that a lot of people can’t do. Bruno’s not just an incredible player, but an incredible person as well,” Hall said about Guimaraes this season.
What is Bruno Guimaraes’ contract situation at Newcastle?
The Toon are under no pressure to sell Guimaraes when it comes to the midfielder’s contract. He is about to enter the final three years of his contract, which means Howe can keep him if he chooses to do so.
What is a fair price for Joao Pedro? 🔮
He cost £60m a year ago…
Where Chelsea may find some success is that Newcastle have always operated close to breaking the Financial Fairplay rules. The Toon may need to sell a big player this summer if they are to spend cash.
Guimaraes is closely affiliated to Newcastle’s fanbase but he might want to move on eventually, and Chelsea have a chance given Newcastle are not in Europe. He cost Newcastle a £40m fee from Lyon.
He will certainly cost more if Chelsea were to go in for him this summer, but given he is in his late twenties, it is unlikely he will cost a groundbreaking fee. An offer in the region of £70m may tempt.
