Barcelona are ready to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, with the England winger having prioritised a move to Camp Nou following a meeting with Deco.
Gordon has been one of the major talking points of the transfer market, with interest coming from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
Barcelona had not been seriously mentioned as a possibility for the 25-year-old, but the Catalan side are in the process of completing a “lightning move” for the former Everton man, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Gordon pushing for Barcelona move
Deco met with Gordon’s representatives in London. During this discussion, he reportedly won over the Newcastle winger to such an extent that it “could be decisive in the transfer”.
Interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich is confirmed, but the report claims that Gordon is “now particularly keen on wearing the Blaugrana colours”.
However, there are hurdles to be crossed with regards finalising the deal – not least agreeing a transfer fee with Newcastle.
The Magpies value Gordon in the region of €85-90 million but Barcelona are unwilling to go so high for a player whose Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) sits at a career-high €57.1m.
Crucially, the winger’s contract demands are within Barca’s wage structure and they are willing to offer him a five-year deal.

Gordon to Barcelona: Why it’s such a shock
Gordon’s potential move to Barcelona has come largely out of the blue, but that’s only part of the reason that it comes as a shock.
The Catalans’ priority has been their search for a striker following the news that Robert Lewandowski will leave the club.
Big-money deals for Chelsea’s Joao Pedro and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez have been hotly touted, but it appears that the Blaugrana are instead ready to invest heavily on the left wing.
While this was a position that Barca had been planning to sign it, the scale of investment required to sign Gordon for this role, had not been forecast.
Indeed, on-loan Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford had appeared their likeliest candidate for the role given they have a buyout clause in his contract worth just €30m and have already agreed personal terms with the Englishman.

Is this the end of Rashford’s Barcelona dream?
Barcelona’s move for Gordon will not necessarily spell the end of Rashford’s time at Barcelona, but it certainly hints that it is far less likely that the Catalans will sign the Man Utd player permanently.
One of the reasons that Barca like Gordon is because he can cover the role of winger and striker, Mundo Deportivo reports.
It adds, however, that “they believe Gordon can strengthen the left flank”.
This suggests that they believe the Newcastle man is an upgrade on Rashford. That’s not to say both can’t operate in the same squad, but it seems highly improbable that they can both be at Barcelona next season if the Catalans also sign a striker for big money.
One way or another, if Gordon signs for Barcelona, it decreases Rashford’s prospects of a long-term stay substantially.
