The versatile Villa forward ended the season with 14 goals and 12 assists, and the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on him.

Villa want at least £80 million for the Arsenal target, and a sale is expected in the coming weeks.

While Rogers is not agitating to leave and is relaxed if his future is not resolved until after the World Cup, Villa want it sorted before the tournament begins on June 11.

The Gunners are unlikely to spend around £250m on players like they did last summer.

However, they are ready to rival the purchase of England international midfielder Declan Rice for a then-British record £105m in 2023 and break their club record.

Arteta needs quality squad depth if Arsenal are to win an unprecedented quadruple next season or anytime soon.

They fell short in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this term and will be desperate to win both competitions next season alongside the league title and Champions League.

Signing Rogers will be huge and the Gunners’ sporting director Andrea Berta will also be eyeing moves for players who can significantly improve their squad and fortunes on the pitch.
