Chelsea handed Morgan Rogers transfer boost following Aston Villa update

The race for Morgan Rogers’ signature this summer is heating up, but it remains to be seen as to whether no Champions League football will affect Chelsea.

Chelsea’s firm interest in Morgan Rogers underscores their strategy of recruiting Premier League talent.

Rogers has more than justified the hype following a sensational individual season under Unai Emery. The England international hit double figures in the Premier League with 10 goals and six assists, and capped off a stunning campaign by scoring in the 3-0 Europa League final victory over Freiburg.

Unlike Cole Palmer, Rogers also made the England squad for the upcoming World Cup, after beating the Chelsea man in the race for the number 10 role.

Chelsea made a mistake getting rid of Noni Madueke! Do you agree?😠

Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has given an update on Morgan Rogers’ situation at Aston Villa.

Understand, Aston Villa’s Champions League qualification has done little to change the situation around Morgan Rogers. The interest of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea is still there, plus Aston Villa would still benefit from an £80m+ windfall that could be reinvested in the squad. PSG is still in the background.

However, one thing that won’t work in Chelsea’s favour is the fee that Aston Villa are demanding. The Blues find themselves in a bit of a sticky situation after failing to secure European football, with more exits this summer expected than was originally planned.

Cole Palmer could be the key for Chelsea

Cole Palmer could easily prove to be Chelsea’s secret weapon in enticing Morgan Rogers to Stamford Bridge. The two England internationals share a famously close bond rooted in their time together coming through Manchester City’s academy.

Their friendship is so intertwined that Palmer even popularised his iconic “ice cold” goal celebration as a direct nod to Rogers.

However, Palmer has been linked with a move away at times himself, so it could all depend on that.
