Arteta could now unleash 24yo Arsenal star vs PSG after dramatic injury update

Arsenal are now preparing for the biggest night of their modern era as they get ready to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final in Budapest on Saturday.

This blockbuster clash comes a week after Arsenal ended their 22-year wait to lift the coveted Premier League trophy.

It has been reported that Jurrien Timber has completed first-team training today and will be flying with the Arsenal squad to Budapest tomorrow.

Jurrien Timber completed first team training today finally. The Dutchman will fly tomorrow with the rest of the squad to Budapest.

Final call to be made tomorrow on matchday squad inclusion.

All the rest is noise, all eyes on Budapest.

The 24-year-old has been in superb form this season, netting four goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.

Unfortunately, he suffered a groin injury against Everton and has been sidelined since March.

Manager Mikel Arteta will now make the decisive call on whether Timber is fit enough to feature in the matchday squad.

Ben White is already ruled out for the important clash after sustaining a medial ligament injury earlier this month.

The potential return of Timber would be a huge boost for Arteta because he is such an intelligent defender.

Arsenal currently boast the strongest defensive record in the Champions League this season, but they will now face a ruthless PSG attack capable of tearing apart any defence in Europe.

Ideally, Arteta would love Timber to be fit enough to start against the Ligue 1 champions on the biggest stage of all.

However, if concerns remain over whether he can cope with the intensity of a full 90 minutes, Arteta may instead trust Cristhian Mosquera to start at right-back.

Declan Rice recently operated in that role, but it would be a huge surprise if Arteta risked moving one of his most influential players into an unfamiliar defensive position for such a monumental occasion.
