Will Chelsea sign another striker this summer? That is unclear at the moment. It looks like Joao Pedro will continue at Stamford Bridge despite links to Barcelona. Barca are closing in on a deal to sign Anthony Gordon instead. Also, there is a possibility that Nicolas Jackson could be reintegrated into the squad. But then, there could be some exits as well.
Liam Delap does not seem to have much of a future at Chelsea. He simply has not turned up since his summer move from Ipswich Town. On the other hand, Marc Guiu could do with a loan spell. His previous one, at Sunderland, was cut short after just a few weeks. It will also be interesting to see whether Xabi Alonso chooses to continue with Emmanuel Emegha, whose signing had been agreed long before he was appointed.
There is a chance that Chelsea decide to stick with their options up top. But then, when you look at their lack of goals in the second half of the campaign, it might be risky to do so.
Also, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via PressReader), Dusan Vlahovic was spotted in a London hotel. Chelsea have been suggested as a possible destination.
Chelsea linked with move for Juventus striker who was reportedly in London
This is not the first time that Vlahovic has been linked with Chelsea. And considering how many times he has appeared to be on a way out of Juventus, it is remarkable that he is still with the Italian side.
His current deal is set to run out this summer though. And that would make it a perfect opportunity for the Serbian striker to finally get his move.
Chelsea could do with a striker this summer. But their budget might be tight, as a result of missing the Champions League and not having a front-of-shirt sponsor for years.
Vlahovic being available as a free agent would help Chelsea land the striker. Now, it remains to be seen if there is anything concrete to the speculation or not.
Would Vlahovic be the right signing for the Blues?
Vlahovic was considered one of the best rising strikers in all of Europe at one point in time. He was even viewed as the closest competition to Erling Haaland when he was scoring for fun with Fiorentina.
Things have not gone according to plan since his move to Juventus though. Vlahovic’s name has faded away from the list of top strikers on the continent. Yet, he has never remained out of the first-team plans in Turin.
That does not happen if you do not have quality. This has been an injury-riddled season for Vlahovic but he has managed a respectable 10 goals and two assists in 23 appearances.
Also, at 26 years of age, Vlahovic is heading towards his prime years on the pitch. So, it is not hard to see why Chelsea might want to sign him.
Where would he fit in? We are not completely sure. But quality depth is not something that Chelsea can overlook at this point in time. And who knows, Vlahovic might even be the starter if Alonso feels like he is a better fit for his system than Pedro or Jackson.
