May 28 – Premier League Liverpool have renewed their sponsorship with hot cloud storage company Wasabi Technologies in a multi-year deal. Wasabi will keeps its designation as the club’s Official Cloud Storage Partner and will work closer with the club on its digital content strategy.
That will see Wasabi implement Wasabi AiR, its intelligent media storage service, which it says will “enable the club to move faster, scale smarter, and deliver more personalised fan experiences”.
It enables the club to create and publish content faster, in particular delivering rapid match and social media output.
Kate Theobald, commercial director at Liverpool, said: “Wasabi has been a trailblazer in cloud storage and AI driven tagging, recognising the potential of technology-driven impact in the global sports industry. Their support has helped us extend the LFC brand into new audiences and communities throughout the world.”
To date the partnership has activated with initiatives like the Wasabi Storage Locker series, which told the stories behind the club’s legacy players, and the ‘Red Hot Beats’ community initiative with the LFC Foundation. The collaboration has generated nearly 800 million impressions, said the club.
Michael Welts, chief marketing officer at Wasabi Technologies, added: “Football is a game about pace on and off the pitch, and Liverpool FC is setting the standard for digital fan engagement globally. By utilizing Wasabi hot cloud storage, LFC is rapidly unlocking the full value of its modern and historic content and connecting with fans anywhere in the world.”
