Liverpool have seen 11 players called up to represent their country at this summer’s World Cup, though up to six may not be a Red for 2026/27.
The World Cup across the United States, Mexico and Canada kicks off on June 11 and runs until July 19, at which point Liverpool’s pre-season will have got underway.
In total, 11 senior players will take part in the summer tournament, although there will be an argument as to whether Mo Salah (Egypt) and Andy Robertson (Scotland) still count!
As they will still be registered with the club when the competition starts, Liverpool still lay claim to them being one of their own.
LFC 2026 World Cup Call-Ups
Country Player(s) Group
Argentina Mac Allister J
Brazil Alisson C
Egypt Salah G
France Konate I
Germany Wirtz E
Japan Endo F
Netherlands Van Dijk, Gakpo, Gravenberch F
Scotland Robertson C

Notably, Jeremie Frimpong was left out of Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad, leaving Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo to represent the Reds’ Dutch contingent.
Explaining his decision to leave Frimpong out, Koeman told reporters: “It is the pattern of this season that he has been injured regularly.”
It will be of huge personal disappointment for Frimpong, but he will at least have a full summer to rest and recover before taking part in Liverpool’s pre-season.

Despite playing only 1,033 minutes in his debut season at Anfield, Alexander Isak has been named in Sweden’s squad on their first return to the World Cup since 2018.
Florian Wirtz, meanwhile, is seen as a key cog for Germany in their pursuit of another world crown. Alisson, on the other hand, will to make a claim for Brazil’s No. 1 spot on return from injury.
Wataru Endo made sure of his availability for Japan after an intense rehab on his ankle injury, but he will have to fight for a starting role after last playing in February.
There remains uncertainty over **Ibrahima Konate**‘s future with a contract still not signed, but the Frenchman will be eager to go one better than last time after losing to Argentina in the final.
Speaking of Argentina, they have currently only named a preliminary squad, but Alexis Mac Allister is expected to make the cut after playing in each of their last six games.
