Senior figures at Chelsea have accepted they need to invest in established Premier League ready talent this summer according to reports.

The Blues appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager earlier this month, with the 44-year-old signing a four year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Unlike Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, Alonso has been given the title of manager, indicating he’ll have greater control.

It’s been reported Alonso will have say in transfers, and the Blues face a critical summer window, which they can’t afford to get wrong.
No European football is certainly going to make it more difficult to sign the calibre of player required to improve the squad.
The Blues have been criticised for their youth focused recruitment policy, but co-owner Behdad Eghbali has said the model will be tweaked this summer.
Chelsea certainly lack experience, leadership, know how and quality in their squad, and BBC Sport have reported senior figures at the club have accepted they need to invest in established Premier League ready talent.
The Blues have been linked with Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, whilst they’ve also been linked with Jan Paul van Hecke and Maxence Lacroix, and it’ll be interesting to see who Alonso signs.
