Tottenham ‘blocked’ signing – Spurs in lead despite competitor’s attempt to hijack deal

Tottenham Hotspur continue to chase Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson, wanting to secure a free transfer ahead of the summer window.

The left-back recently revealed he came close to joining Tottenham in January and will have another opportunity to join them.

He already announced his decision to leave Anfield as a free agent.

On May 20th, we relayed news Fenerbahçe have positioned themselves to beat Spurs in the race for the 32-year-old.

A day later, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey of the Yellow Canaries making a formal offer to the fullback.

The source stated Fenerbahçe’s final decision will come after the presidential election on June 6-7th. The Liverpool player doesn’t want to wait and hopes to sort out his future as soon as possible.

Juventus ready to challenge Tottenham

Sky Italia now report Juventus are also keen on signing Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson.

The Serie A side made contact to sign the Scotland international and have to be wary of Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s because Roberto De Zerbi’s side have ‘blocked’ his signing, after making him their priority for the upcoming window.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also reports the Old Lady’s approach and that the north London club ‘blocked’ his signing.

Juventus have made advances by submitting an offer to the player, without mentioning its details. The Turin club would have to convince the fullback to snub Spurs to win the battle for his signature.

On Sunday, Tottenham secured their stay in the Premier League after a win over Everton. With that, they still maintain the lead to secure Robertson’s services despite Juve’s efforts to try and snatch the deal from their clutches.

Spurs target attractive prospect

Andrew Robertson’s experience for Liverpool and his status as a free agent make him attractive prospect in the transfer market.

Therefore, Tottenham Hotspur, Fenerbahçe and now Juventus have shown interest in him. As things stand, he’s most likely to move to the English capital.

His contract expires in June, and Transfermarkt value him at €10m. The former Hull City man played 2,001 minutes from 36 matches this season.
