Liverpool target Yan Diomande has insisted he wants to play for big clubs sooner rather than later. But he’s refused to be drawn into talk of the Reds or Paris Saint-Germain for now.
So, Foot have an interview with the 19-year-old today in which he discusses his current situation ahead of a big summer.
Liverpool interest
The RB Leipzig winger is expected to be a target for several big teams this summer, in what could now be a €150m deal.
Liverpool have been interested in him for over a year, with the Côte d’Ivoire international seen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Indeed, a report last month stated that the Reds have already started negotiations for a potential deal. A report yesterday then explained that Liverpool are one of just four clubs who could potentially get a €150m deal done this summer.
Yan Diomande is very much aware of the interest. But he won’t be drawn into naming any preferences for now.
“Yeah, I heard. But I don’t know if it’s going to be okay for everyone to pay that,” he said regarding his apparent high asking price.
“I’m not going to say Paris, Liverpool or Real (Madrid). But it would be a good idea to play for big clubs. Everyone has ambitions and every day you want to go higher.
“So, it was Leganés, today I’m a Leipzig player. I’m not going to hide my desires or my dreams. I want to play for a big club, of course.”
Ready for a risk
The big choice for the winger is whether he wants to move now or stay to continue at Leipzig before making that big move.
A report yesterday indicated that he’s open to signing a new deal at Leipzig, continuing to play with them and then moving next summer. He, though, isn’t concerned about the risks.
“It depends, huh. Football is my life, and my life is about taking risks,” he added.
“We’re alive, but we never know what might happen. I am African, I am a believer. I believe in God, I work. Whatever the club, I am ready to fight every day to win my place, to give my best. That’s what I’ve always done. That’s what I know how to do, me.”
