There have been suggestions that the Brazilian international could be let go for as little as £5m, with his contract set to run into its final year.

However, Ornstein claims that the Gunners will refuse to let Jesus leave on the cheap during the summer transfer window.

It is believed that interested teams have been told to stump up between £18m and £20m if they want to secure his services.

Jesus has talked up a move back to Brazil

The 29-year-old has spoken out over the last week or so, declaring he would be very keen on returning to his former club Palmeiras.

Jesus came up through the youth ranks of the Brazilian club prior to his £27m sale to Manchester City at the beginning of 2017.

There have, though, been suggestions that the forward would prefer to stay in Europe a little while longer before finishing his career with Palmeiras.

Clubs in Italy, including AC Milan and Juventus, have been mentioned as potential suitors, while he has also been linked with Barcelona, who may consider a cheap replacement for the departing Robert Lewandowski.

He has dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal

While Jesus has made it clear that he is happy at the Emirates, his lack of game time will be a concern for him.

The Brazilian international did start the final domestic fixture of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend – a game in which he scored, but it was his first league start in three and a half months.

Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz have both moved ahead of him as starting options up front.
