As expected Celtic will NOT be signing Andy Robertson, after it was reported that the ex-Liverpool star will sign on the dotted line for Tottenham Hotspur…
The Scotland captain had been tipped over the course of the last year to make a dramatic and emotional return to the club he left as a youngster, with several reports outlining his desire to pull on the famous green and white hoops before his playing career ended.
It won’t be happening however, as Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Champions League winner will join Premier League rivals Tottenham, with a deal in place for the left-back, following his release from the Anfield club.
The Italian transfer expert has reported that although no paperwork has officially been signed, it is a mere formality at this stage, with Roberto de Zerbi’s side beating off competition from Serie A giants Juventus for Robertson. No mention whatsoever of any Celtic involvement in this transfer.

At 32-years-old, the left-back still has a considerable amount to offer and if Celtic were going to get any good years out of him, now would have been the time to pounce.

Still, it only serves to highlight the mass amounts of money in the game today, that Robertson is still out of reach for Celtic. It would have been a welcome addition but one that was unlikely in the cold light of day, with former Arsenal star Kieran Tierney on the books at Celtic.
Two left-backs of that quality and calibre might be unrealistic for the Celtic support, knowing how the club’s hierarchy like to do business. The other left-back spot was filled by Boca Juniors star Marcelo Saracchi this season, who was an excellent addition to the squad in a position that has given us a headache for years.
Signing him permanently would be a great way of showing intent in the transfer market this summer, yet somehow something points to that being too much of a leap for the five-in-a-row Scottish Champions to make. Celtic’s interest in bringing Saracchi back is strong but no agreement has yet been reach with Boco Juniors regarding a fee. Same old Celtic…
