The Champions League final is finally upon us as Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal look to secure a historic double against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on Saturday.

After being crowned Premier League champions last week, this iteration of the Gunners can now grasp legendary status by winning Europe’s most prestigious club competition in the same season. They take on a blistering PSG side at the Puskas Arena, knowing they can etch their names in the history books with a victory.

Mikel Arteta has a number of selection headaches to weigh up over the next few days, before naming the most important starting eleven in his managerial career so far. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Jurrien Timber, the Champions League final and Gabriel Jesus.

Jurrien Timber back in training ahead of PSG clash

Arsenal have concerns at right-back heading into this final, with Ben White ruled out after sustaining an MCL injury away at West Ham a couple of weeks ago. However, they’ve now been offered hope on the Jurrien Timber front.

Timber was included in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad, sparking optimism amongst Gunners supporters regarding his prospective availability for Budapest. This optimism has now been heightened after a more concrete update.

According to HandofArsenal, the Dutch full-back completed first-team training on Wednesday morning and is set to fly with the squad to Hungary. A decision will be made on Thursday on whether he will be included in the matchday squad for Saturday.

Arsenal prepare for Champions League final

Arteta granted his team a day off on Monday, after the entire squad went out on Sunday night to celebrate their title triumph. They returned to training on Tuesday morning, trained on Wednesday and Thursday, and are now set to jet out to Budapest this evening.

A final training session will then take place at the Puskas Arena on Friday, before media duties on Friday evening and the match on Saturday. While many have suggested that Arsenal might’ve been distracted by the jubilation of winning the league, HandofArsenal has dismissed this notion, insisting that the Gunners are ‘locked in’.

The reputable Arsenal source claims that Arteta and his players have been preparing for PSG for over 10 days. They should now have a definitive game plan in place, and will be confident that they can overcome a PSG team who are seemingly huge favourites in the eyes of most neutrals.

Arsenal set firm asking price for Gabriel Jesus

Amidst the chaos of this dramatic end to the season, sporting director Andrea Berta is already making plans ahead of the next campaign. Several players are expected to make way for a handful of marquee additions at the Emirates this summer.

Gabriel Jesus is set to depart North London in the coming months, and a concrete update emerged on this front on Wednesday evening. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Arsenal are demanding up to £20 million for Jesus this summer.

Multiple clubs have enquired about his availability and have been quoted £18-£20 million. While the Brazilian can go as a free agent when his contract expires next summer, Arsenal aren’t considering a cheap sale before then.
