Monaco are being linked with Romeo Lavia, although it’s hard to see how the deal works financially from both ends.

Our writer Simon Phillips has another exclusive today, this time on Romeo Lavia. He says that Monaco have “shown a strong interest” in the midfielder, and are actually getting ready to make Chelsea an offer for him.
The Blues would love to cut their losses on a failed move, but may not be able to stomach the loss on the books.
Monaco preparing fair offer for Romeo Lavia
Monaco are the club of club we could certainly see Lavia going to. But as always, the question is financial. we paid £53m for the Belgian. He’s since spent three years largely injured.
We would be lucky to get £30m for him, and in fact there’s no way Monaco would pay that. Phillips says they’re “readying an offer of £25m.”
It’s a fair offer. But from Chelsea’s point of view, in their current PSR and FFP situation it’s actually better to have an player whose value is declining on the books rather than one you’ve sold and banked a loss on.
If we want to sell Lavia for anything other than a brutal loss, he needs to stay fit for a year. As it stands, we see him back at Chelsea next season hoping to do just that.
In other news…
Robert Sanchez is apparently set to kick up a fuss if he’s made to compete for his number one spot this season.
Valentin Barco’s eye opening stats must have some Chelsea attackers very excited for next season already.
