‘Exclusive’ England plan revealed – Arsenal forward has concrete reason to reject European interest

Arsenal may finally have a clearer picture of Gabriel Jesus’ intentions – and despite weeks of mixed messaging, the strongest indications now point firmly towards England.

Over the last month, the Brazilian has spoken constantly about Palmeiras, admitted he dreams of returning one day, flirted with emotional scenarios in Brazil and simultaneously kept the door open to staying at Arsenal.

At this point, it has honestly become difficult to know whether Gabriel Jesus is keeping doors open strategically or simply talking from the heart every time a microphone appears.

But fresh reporting from two of the most reliable Brazilian news outlets adds some very important context to all of this.

England is the priority – full stop

According to ESPN Brazil, Gabriel Jesus is currently working “exclusively” with the idea of remaining in English football next season.

That means either staying at Arsenal until the end of his contract in 2027 or moving to another Premier League side. Internally, those are the scenarios being prioritised right now.

That is significant because recent speculation had pointed towards Italy or Spain. Juventus, Milan and Atlético Madrid have all made exploratory contacts in recent weeks.

Globo Esporte also confirms those clubs have already initiated conversations to understand the conditions of a possible deal.

Yet despite all that noise, Gabriel Jesus still reportedly sees England as the ideal destination for the next step of his career. But the biggest reason may actually have nothing to do with football itself.

According to both ESPN and Globo Esporte, Gabriel Jesus is close to obtaining British citizenship later this year.

If he leaves England now – even for another European league – the process would reportedly be interrupted automatically. Staying in the country would soon allow him to count as a domestic player rather than needing a Governing Body Endorsement work permit.

That creates a very strong practical reason to remain in England for at least one more season. Suddenly, some of his recent comments start making much more sense.

The contradiction around Palmeiras

What makes this entire saga slightly confusing is the contrast between Gabriel Jesus’ emotional and practical messaging.

Emotionally, Palmeiras remain everywhere in the conversation. He keeps speaking about the club, saying he thinks about returning “every day” and reinforcing how strong the connection still feels.

Practically, though, almost every serious indicator points elsewhere.

There is the citizenship process. There is his desire to remain at elite European level. And there is also a personal target involved.

Gabriel Jesus currently has 79 Premier League goals, only three behind Roberto Firmino’s record for the most goals scored by a Brazilian in the competition.

At the same time, Arsenal are finally back competing at the highest level again. The club have ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title and will now play a Champions League final against PSG.

For a player who spent so long recovering from serious injuries, there could bea strong feeling of unfinished business around his time in London at least.

What happens next

Gabriel Jesus still has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract, and Arsenal themselves have not fully clarified whether they see him as part of the long-term project after Viktor Gyökeres’ arrival and the reshaping of the attack.

But the player’s side now seems easier to understand than it did a few weeks ago.

Despite all the declarations about Palmeiras, the practical reality continues pointing towards England. At least for now.
