The highly anticipated arrival of Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge will not disrupt Chelsea’s summer transfer strategy when it comes to Morgan Rogers.
Morgan Rogers was named the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season after scoring in Aston Villa’s final victory. And his blistering form earned him a thoroughly deserved spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Intriguingly, Rogers’ inclusion came at the direct expense of his close friend and former Manchester City academy teammate, Cole Palmer, who was ruthlessly dropped by Tuchel.
Despite Chelsea star Palmer suffering international heartbreak, the tight-knit relationship between the two young forwards remains a talking point.
However, the fact that half of the Premier League and Paris Saint-Germain are chasing Rogers won’t help the Blues’ cause after failing to secure European football.

Xabi Alonso wants Morgan Rogers at Chelsea
TeamTalk are reporting that the arrival of Xabi Alonso at Stamford Bridge has not altered Chelsea’s plans.
Chelsea ideally views Rogers either as a long-term attacking partner for Cole Palmer or potentially even a player capable of carrying similar creative responsibility should circumstances change around Palmer’s future, as he himself is being tipped to depart.
And Alonso is fully aware of the club’s pursuit and would be more than happy to work with Rogers as part of his new-look attacking setup.
However, he won’t come cheap as Aston Villa want around £80 million.

Chelsea’s replacement for Enzo Fernandez
Chelsea are facing a summer midfield crisis following the bombshell news that Enzo Fernandez has officially requested to leave Stamford Bridge.
Despite incoming manager Xabi Alonso viewing the Argentine as an important part of his new project, a lack of European football and disagreements over a new contract look to have cost the Blues.
While Chelsea have slapped a massive £120 million price tag on Fernandez, with Real Madrid and Manchester City hovering, Rogers could be the man to replace him.
