FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Morgan Rogers and Alejandro Garnacho.

Xabi Alonso says ‘yes’ to Morgan Rogers signing

The appointment of Xabi Alonso has not altered Chelsea’s pursuit of Morgan Rogers, with the incoming Blues manager open to working with the €100m-rated Aston Villa superstar next season.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk" href="https://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal/morgan-rogers-transfer-news-arsenal-deal-approved-arteta" target="_blank">TEAMtalk, who have revealed that Chelsea view Rogers as someone capable of playing alongside close friend Cole Palmer or potentially replacing him if the attacking midfielder opts to leave Stamford Bridge amid rumoured interest from Manchester United.

However, Chelsea will face significant competition in the race to sign Rogers this summer, with Arsenal currently exploring a possible deal, as exclusively reported by FootballTransfers" href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2026/05/exclusive-arsenal-plot-blockbuster-morgan-rogers-transfer-after-secret-groundwork" target="_blank">as exclusively reported by FootballTransfers.

Alejandro Garnacho to Napoli?

Chelsea are actively looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho after just one season at the club, according to a report from Blues transfer expert Simon Phillips" href="https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-chelsea-set-to-offer-alejandro" target="_blank">Simon Phillips.

The Argentina winger moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester United last summer after lengthy negotiations, but he only scored one Premier League goal during his first campaign at Chelsea and the club are already keen to offload him.

It’s reported that Napoli have rekindled their interest in Garnacho ahead of this summer, with Chelsea eager to offer his services around Europe.

Monaco want Romeo Lavia

Ligue 1 club AS Monaco have shown an interest in Chelsea midfielder and are already preparing an opening bid worth €29m (£25m) for the Belgium star, as per Simon Phillips" href="https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/excl-monaco-set-to-make-25m-offer" target="_blank">Simon Phillips.

Lavia, 22, joined Chelsea from Southampton back in 2023, but he has endured three injury-hit seasons at Stamford Bridge and he is still yet to play an entire 90 minutes since his arrival in west London.

He has been heavily linked with a summer departure as Chelsea ponder a possible sale, and Monaco have now reportedly emerged as potential suitors.

Atletico Madrid make contact to sign Marc Cucurella

Atletico Madrid have been pursuing a deal for Marc Cucurella for several months and they have now made contact to sign him this summer.

That is according to Simon Phillips" href="https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-club-make-contact-to-sign" target="_blank">Simon Phillips, who reports that a possible move to Wanda Metropolitano could move fast as Diego Simeone’s side look to bring the Spain international back to La Liga.

Cucurella is one of several Blues stars who has hinted that he wants to leave during the upcoming summer transfer window, with Enzo Fernandez and Filip Jorgensen also eager to depart Stamford Bridge.

Geovany Quenda plan

Geovany Quenda has confirmed that he wants to rejoin Sporting CP before the end of his career ahead of his €50 million move to Chelsea in July.

The 19-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United following the Red Devils’ appointment of his former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim, but they lost out on his signature to Chelsea, who finalised a double deal for Quenda and team-mate Dario Essugo last March.

Speaking to Sporting TV about his departure, an emotional Quenda admitted (via Sport Witness" href="https://sportwitness.co.uk/sporting-means-everything-to-me-chelsea-signing-delivers-emotional-exit-interview/" target="_blank">Sport Witness)): “I had nights where I couldn’t sleep because it was very difficult for me to say goodbye to a club that helped me and my family so much. It’s a very special club for me.

“The club will always stay in my heart. I have no way to thank Sporting enough for how they treated my parents and my family. I’m more mature now, with a bit more experience, although there is still a lot for me to live in football. But Sporting helped me so much.

“I will always carry Sporting in my heart. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon. I hope one day I can wear the Sporting shirt again.”

Chelsea urged to sign John Stones and Robert Lewandowski

Chelsea legend Joe Cole believes his former club should sign John Stones and Robert Lewandowski on Bosman deals this summer following their departures from Manchester City and Barcelona.

“They just need what I've been saying for two or three years, where you have experience around them within the group that helps them through games to coach them, whilst on the pitch to give them their wisdom, you know, and build it out that way,” Cole told Football.London" href="https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-xabi-alonso-transfer-window-34019155" target="_blank">Football.London when asked about what Chelsea’s squad needs this summer.

“Even if you're just selling players, there's ones that are not going to get near it. That's not for me to say, that's for them to work out and then and then you bring in your John Stones and Robert Lewandowski and players on a free transfer who don't need to play every minute of every game, but they understand winning, they understand culture and they can still help out in the pitch and do bits. And them players that need that, they've got it within the group, it can't be from coaches, all the time.”
