Chelsea’s recruitment department have reportedly identified Real Madrid pair Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga as potential answers should Enzo Fernandez force through a long-rumoured move to the Spanish capital this summer.
The Blues have set a hefty £120million price tag on the Argentine, who they signed from Benfica back in January 2023 in a British transfer record. Fernandez, 25, has scored seven times and set up 13 assists in an overall turbulent and ultimately European-less campaign at Stamford Bridge.
But the Spanish giants are said to be considering a player-plus-cash deal rather than a straight transfer, with Madrid reluctant to meet such a high cash demand. Both Tchouameni and Camavinga have admirers within Chelsea’s recruitment setup and either Frenchman is viewed internally as capable of helping to counterbalance Fernandez’s exit were negotiations ever to gather real momentum.
In exploratory talks between intermediaries over the past months, aside from the known duo, two younger names have surfaced. In the past 12 months, Chelsea have asked about the availability of both Jacobo Ramon and Chema Andres, two highly-rated 21-year-olds. The pair departed Madrid last summer, but buy-back clauses mean the Spanish club still have a clear path to reclaim either player if they want.
Enzo Fernandez Departure Could Pave Way For Manchester United Tchouameni Signing
Any breakthrough between Chelsea and Madrid would be felt well beyond west London and the Spanish capital this summer. Manchester United have long been admirers of Tchouameni, and a completed Fernandez deal could finally open their long-awaited window to pounce.
United are thought to be prepared to rekindle their interest if Enzo’s move to Spain opens the door for the France international to leave the Bernabeu. The 26-year-old impressed during a previous spell under a recent Madrid regime, underlining exactly the balance and authority that so strongly appeals to Old Trafford.
However, despite speculation linking him to a Premier League challenge, question marks remain over whether Tchouameni himself would really want to leave Madrid. United would also need a replacement lined up before going all in, meaning patience could be the deciding factor in how this eventually falls.
