**Ibrahima Konate’s Liverpool future is in doubt after an impasse in contract talks.**
Konate was previously locked in negotiations over extending his stay at Anfield and revealed after April’s Merseyside derby win over Everton that a decision was ‘close’.
The France international further hinted at a successful conclusion by admitting there was [‘a big chance’ he would remain with Arne Slot’s side](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/64930-ibrahima-konate-confirms-new-liverpool-deal-close/) for the next season.
But Konate’s five-year stay with the Reds is now in hanging in the balance as he edges closer to becoming a free agent when his current deal expires next month.
He would become the third established first-team player to leave Merseyside this summer following the confirmed exits of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.
Konate, 27, has made a 183 appearances, scoring seven times, since joining from RB Leipzig in May 2021 when his £35 million release clause was triggered.
He also won five major honours including a Premier League title and established himself as one half of the club’s established centre-back pairing with Virgil van Dijk.
