Ex-Arsenal striker Alan Smith thinks Man City will secure 3rd place in the Premier League next season.
In an exclusive interview with Man City News (courtesy of Best Betting Sites UK), Smith was asked to predict who could finish in the top five, and he replied:
“I’ve got to go for Arsenal to retain it for the first time since the 1930s. So Arsenal first, I think Liverpool might recover depending on the manager, so Liverpool second, Man City third, Man United fourth and Villa fifth.”

With Enzo Maresca expected to take over from Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, most supporters are not sure what will happen next campaign, but third place would be regarded as a disappointment.
How will Arsenal react to being champions?
While Smith seems confident that the Gunners will maintain their standards after finally securing top spot after years of trying, there are no guarantees that will happen.
As we have seen with Liverpool’s steep drop-off, a lot can change year-on-year. What was so impressive about Guardiola’s time in charge of City is that the club were able to challenge almost every season.
Man City’s transfer business will play a pivotal role
With Bernardo Silva and John Stones leaving, and doubts over the futures of other players, including Rodri, Director of Football Hugo Viana must ensure he gives Maresca a squad capable of winning trophies.
The early signs do seem promising. The club are favourites to secure the services of Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who could be a mainstay of the midfield for years to come.
In other positions, it is likely that the Cityzens will bring in a replacement for Savinho if Tottenham do revive their interest in the Brazilian as expected. A new keeper is also set to be brought in if James Trafford departs.
