Man City are one of two clubs who have initiated “contact” with the representatives of Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, according to reports in the German media.
The 29-year-old has been on loan at Stuttgart this season, where he has been a regular starter, but the Bundesliga side can’t afford to keep him on a permanent basis.
Sport Bild claim that City and Juventus are the teams most likely to recruit Nubel at the moment.

Both have been speaking to the German international’s entourage, and his departure from Bayern is expected over the coming weeks.
Nubel’s asking price is pretty low
Despite playing regularly for Stuttgart and having been capped 3 times at international level, Bayern will reportedly let the keeper leave the Allianz Arena for around €10m (£8.7m) to €15m (£13m).
Nubel’s relationship with Manuel Neuer is believed to be strained, so there is no prospect of him staying with Vincent Kompany’s side beyond the summer transfer window.
Ironically, the pair will be in the same dressing room for the World Cup, with Nubel and Neuer having been called up by manager Julian Nagelsmann.
Why do Man City want to sign Nubel?
James Trafford is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. Despite only returning to Manchester at the start of the season, he has expressed dissatisfaction at being Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy.
Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea have been mentioned as potential suitors for the England international, with his valuation having been set between £35m and £40m.
Nubel is likely seen as Trafford’s replacement in the City squad. It is up for debate, though, whether he would be interested in becoming a number two, having spent the season playing regularly for Stuttgart.
