Xabi Alonso’s dream signing at Real Madrid just became incredibly easy for Chelsea to make

Chelsea simply must give appropriate backing to Xabi Alonso when he officially gets underway at Stamford Bridge, including making signings that have his approval.

Many are predicting the Blues will need to sell a big name this summer in order to continue to sign new players and stay on the right side of UEFA’s sanctions.

Enzo Fernandez has been tipped to leave, despite the fact Alonso wanted to speak to him regarding his future and try and sell the project of him in charge of the club.

Xabi Alonso really wanted Ibrahima Konate at Real Madrid

Attention will quickly turn though to the transfer targets Alonso believes will strengthen his side, and he has already reportedly asked the club to address the centre-back position.

When looking at those who could be signed, the name of Ibrahima Konate stands out above most after his stint at Liverpool.

The Frenchman was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, and according to TeamTalk in 2025, it was Alonso who was the driving force in that interest.

After just bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold, the European giants were looking to make the most of Liverpool not getting their contracts in order for key stars.

Konate set to leave Liverpool

Despite being a regular in the Reds’ backline, Konate has not agreed to a new contract and is set to leave his club at the end of the season.

This gives Chelsea as much a chance as anyone of securing his signature, given the fact they will not have to worry about an inflated transfer fee as a rival Premier League side.

The Blues will have to rival a number of elite sides for his signature, but can boast a regular starting role to play alongside Levi Colwill.

The Frenchman would also bring the physicality and Premier League experience many believe is required at the club going into next season.
