Nacho Monreal has revealed what he’s thinking ahead of the Champions League final.

Arsenal’s trophy parade route has been mapped out.

Achraf Hakimi has travelled with the PSG squad to Budapest.

Europe’s showpiece footballing event is set to take place on Saturday evening in Budapest, and Arsenal will be a part of it.

The Gunners take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, looking to win their first major continental trophy since 1994. Mikel Arteta’s team have already been crowned Premier League champions, and they now have the chance to ascend into the pantheon of the very best English teams in history by securing a historic double.

PSG will certainly provide them with a tough test, but it should be Arsenal’s time to shine in Europe. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Nacho Monreal, the trophy parade and Achraf Hakimi.

Nacho Monreal spent six-and-a-half years at Arsenal between 2013 and 2019, playing alongside Arteta in the process. During the left-back’s time in North London, the Gunners never came close to reaching a Champions League final, whilst never properly competing for the Premier League title.

Now, however, the Spaniard is confident that his former teammate can lead Arsenal to European glory. Speaking to AS, Monreal described this upcoming showdown in Budapest as an ‘even matchup.’

“It’s a very even matchup,” he said.

“I don’t think either team is the clear favourite — it’s completely balanced. Both have very defined styles, and they’ll stick to them. Whoever makes fewer mistakes will be the champion.

“Without a doubt [it’s Arsenal’s time to win a Champions League]. They’re one of the few top English clubs that have never won it. The final is 50–50 — anything can happen — but hopefully they play well and lift the trophy.”

Arsenal’s trophy parade route

Arsenal’s players will fly back to London from Budapest shortly after the Champions League final ends. Part of the reason for this abrupt departure from Hungary is so that Arteta’s squad can be present in N5 for Sunday’s trophy parade.

Over a million people are expected to pile onto the streets of North London to celebrate the Gunners’ title triumph, as well as a potential Champions League victory. The exact route the bus will take has now been revealed.

Fans have been left disappointed as the confirmed bus route does not include stops outside the Emirates or Islington Town Hall. This is largely due to the volume of people expected at the parade.

The journey will, however, involve a long stretch of Holloway Road, a section of Seven Sisters Road, a short spell down Blackstock Road, before touring down Highbury Fields and towards Highbury and Islington Station.

Achraf Hakimi injury update ahead of Champions League final

While Arsenal will be without Ben White and potentially Jurrien Timber for the Champions League final, PSG may have their own right-back issues to contend with. Achraf Hakimi is a doubt for the clash after spending the last month on the sidelines with a thigh strain.

That said, it’s now been revealed that Hakimi has travelled with PSG’s squad to Budapest. There is an expectation that the marauding full-back will at the very least make the bench, and may even be able to start for Luis Enrique’s team.

If the Moroccan is fit and available, Arteta will need to recalibrate his thoughts regarding how he sets up his left-hand side. Hakimi is an offensive threat on this flank, and the Gunners will therefore need a winger with the defensive capacity to track the wing-back’s forward runs.
